Where a security incident or legal dispute requires longer retention, information may be retained for the duration reasonably necessary to investigate or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
7. Hosting by Hetzner
Form&Life uses hosting and server infrastructure provided by:
Hetzner Online GmbH
Industriestr. 25
91710 Gunzenhausen
Germany
Form&Life operates a self-hosted Ghost CMS installation on server infrastructure provided by Hetzner.
Depending on the specific server and infrastructure configuration, Form&Life may use Hetzner infrastructure located within the European Union, including data-centre infrastructure in Helsinki, Finland.
Hetzner states in its current privacy policy that, unless otherwise specified, personal data processed in connection with its services remains within the EU.
Technical data necessary to operate the Form&Life website may therefore be processed within the hosting environment.
Where Hetzner processes personal data on behalf of Form&Life, the applicable contractual arrangements required under Article 28 GDPR are used.
8. Cloudflare
Form&Life uses services provided by Cloudflare for parts of its domain, DNS, network and security infrastructure.
Depending on the current technical configuration, Cloudflare may provide:
- DNS services;

- DDoS protection;
- security filtering; and
- protection against malicious traffic.
Cloudflare may process technical information such as:
- IP addresses;
- HTTP request information;
- browser information;
- network information;
- security information; and
- information necessary to identify and mitigate malicious traffic.
The processing necessary to maintain website security, reliability and network functionality is generally based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Depending on the Cloudflare service used, information may be processed outside the European Economic Area. Where a transfer of personal data to a third country occurs, Form&Life relies on an applicable transfer mechanism under Chapter V GDPR, where required.
Cloudflare's current Data Processing Addendum is version 6.4 and is effective from 3 April 2026.
9. Ghost CMS
Form&Life is operated using a self-hosted Ghost CMS installation.
Ghost is used as the website's content-management and publishing platform and provides functionality for:
- publishing editorial content;
- managing website content;
- managing members;
- managing member accounts;
- providing authentication functionality; and
- operating the technical publishing environment.
The Ghost installation itself is hosted on the infrastructure described in Section 7.
10. Ghost Native Analytics
Form&Life has disabled Ghost's native analytics functionality.
Form&Life therefore does not use Ghost's built-in analytics system for website traffic measurement.
Ghost confirms that its native analytics features can be disabled directly in the Ghost settings.
Form&Life instead uses Google Analytics as its optional website analytics service, as described below.
11. Member Registration
Form&Life provides member functionality through Ghost.
Visitors may voluntarily register as a Form&Life member by providing an email address.
Depending on the functionality available through the website, member-related data may include:
- email address;
- name, if voluntarily provided;
- member status;
- registration information;
- account information;
- consent or subscription information; and
- information required to operate and secure the member account.
Registration is voluntary.
The email address is used to create and maintain the member account and to provide account-related functionality.
Where processing is necessary to provide the member functionality requested by the user, the legal basis is generally Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.
Where a specific processing activity is based on consent, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
12. Email Addresses and Member Data
The email address provided during member registration is stored as part of the Form&Life membership system.
It may be used to:
- identify the member account;
- authenticate the member;
- provide account-related functionality;
- send essential account-related emails where technically necessary;
- manage the member relationship;
- process requests concerning the member account; and
- maintain the security of the membership system.
Form&Life does not sell member email addresses to third parties.
We do not use member email addresses for unrelated third-party advertising.
13. Newsletter
Form&Life does not currently operate an active newsletter mailing service.
Although the Ghost platform provides membership functionality that can support newsletter subscriptions, Form&Life currently does not send a regular newsletter and does not currently use an external newsletter delivery service such as Mailgun.
Accordingly, no active newsletter mailing campaign is currently operated by Form&Life.
If a newsletter is introduced in the future, the relevant processing operations will be reviewed and this Privacy Policy will be updated where required. This will include information regarding:
- the newsletter provider;
- the subscription procedure;
- the legal basis;
- consent and withdrawal;
- email tracking, if any;
- retention;
- recipients; and
- international data transfers.
14. Mailgun
Mailgun is not currently used by Form&Life.
No personal data is currently transferred to Mailgun for newsletter delivery by Form&Life.
If Mailgun is introduced in the future for newsletter or transactional email delivery, the applicable processing and data-transfer arrangements will be reviewed and this Privacy Policy will be updated where necessary.
15. Cookiebot Consent Management
Form&Life uses Cookiebot, a consent-management platform operated by Usercentrics A/S, Havnegade 39, 1058 Copenhagen, Denmark.
Cookiebot is used to:
- display information about cookies and similar technologies;
- obtain consent where required;
- manage consent preferences;
- prevent optional technologies from being activated without the applicable consent; and
- document consent decisions.
Usercentrics A/S identifies itself as the operator of Cookiebot and provides its registered address in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Depending on the configuration, Cookiebot may process technical information and information relating to the visitor's consent decision.
The processing associated with managing and documenting consent may be based on Article 6(1)(c) GDPR where necessary to comply with legal obligations and/or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR where necessary to demonstrate and manage lawful consent.
16. CookieConsent
The Form&Life website currently uses the following Cookiebot cookie:
Name: CookieConsent
Provider: Cookiebot / Usercentrics
Type: HTTP Cookie
Category: Necessary
Purpose: Stores the user's cookie-consent state for the current domain
Maximum storage duration: 1 year
This cookie is used to remember the user's consent decision and support the operation of the consent-management mechanism.
17. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Form&Life uses cookies and browser storage only where necessary for the website, consent management, or optional services that the user has enabled.
Under Section 25 TDDDG, storing information on a user's terminal device or accessing information already stored there generally requires the user's consent unless an applicable statutory exception applies, including where the storage or access is strictly necessary to provide a digital service expressly requested by the user.
Where consent is required, Form&Life uses Cookiebot to obtain consent before activating the relevant optional technology.
18. Necessary Technologies
Necessary technologies are used where they are technically required to operate the website or provide a function expressly requested by the visitor.
These may include technologies required for:
- consent management;
- security;
- technical website functionality;
- session-related functionality;
- network delivery; and
- other essential technical functions.
Where Section 25(2) TDDDG applies, prior consent is not required.
The processing of personal data associated with such technologies must nevertheless have an appropriate legal basis under Article 6 GDPR.
19. Preference Cookies
According to the current Cookiebot declaration for Form&Life, no Preference cookies are currently used.
Form&Life does not currently use a separate cookie category for storing language, region or other personalisation preferences.
20. Statistics Cookies and Technologies
Form&Life currently uses optional statistical technologies for website analytics.
According to the current Cookiebot declaration, the Statistics category includes Google-related analytics technologies and the following website local-storage entry:
ghost-history
These technologies are not classified as Marketing technologies.
Where consent is legally required, statistical technologies are activated only after the visitor has provided the relevant consent through Cookiebot.
21. Google Analytics
Form&Life currently uses Google Analytics to measure website usage and understand general audience behaviour.
Google Analytics may be used to obtain statistical information such as:
- number of visits;
- page views;
- article popularity;
- traffic sources;
- general geographic information;
- device and browser information;
- interactions with website content; and
- other aggregated website-performance information.
Google Analytics is used for website and audience measurement.
Form&Life does not currently use Google Ads.
22. Google Analytics Consent
Google Analytics is an optional statistical service.
Form&Life uses Cookiebot to manage consent for optional analytics technologies.
Where consent is required, Google Analytics is activated only after the relevant consent has been obtained.
The legal basis for such processing is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR — consent.
Google's consent documentation identifies analytics_storage as the consent setting governing storage related to Analytics, including analytics cookies. Google also describes consent-based and consent-mode implementations for users in the European Economic Area.
You may refuse or withdraw consent for Google Analytics without losing access to the editorial content of Form&Life.
23. Google Analytics and Google Ads
Form&Life currently uses Google Analytics but does not use Google Ads.
Form&Life does not currently use:
- Google Ads campaigns;
- Google Ads remarketing;
- Google Ads conversion tracking;
- Google Ads customer matching;
- Google Ads advertising cookies; or
- Google Ads personalised advertising.
Google's current documentation distinguishes analytics-related consent from advertising-related consent signals.
24. Google Analytics and International Data Processing
Google is an international service provider and data connected with Google Analytics may be processed outside the European Economic Area depending on the service configuration and applicable Google infrastructure.
Where personal data is transferred to a third country, Form&Life relies on an applicable legal mechanism under Chapter V GDPR, where required.
Google's current documentation describes specific consent and data-processing requirements for European Economic Area users.
Form&Life does not intentionally use Google Analytics to identify ordinary website visitors by name.
25. Google Analytics Data Retention
Google Analytics data is retained according to the data-retention configuration of the Form&Life Google Analytics property.
The retention setting may be adjusted where necessary to reflect operational requirements and applicable data-protection considerations.
The current Google Analytics account settings should therefore be regarded together with this Privacy Policy when assessing the precise retention period for analytics data.
26. Local Storage: ghost-history
Cookiebot currently identifies the following HTML Local Storage entry:
Name: ghost-history
Provider: formandlife.com
Type: HTML Local Storage
Category: Statistic
Storage: Persistent
Purpose stated by Cookiebot: Detects how the user reached the website by registering their last URL address.
ghost-history is not an HTTP cookie. It is stored using the browser's Local Storage mechanism.
Because Cookiebot currently classifies it as a statistical technology, the relevant storage or access should be governed by the site's applicable consent mechanism where consent is required under German law.
27. Local Storage: vanguard-typography
Cookiebot currently identifies:
Name: vanguard-typography
Provider: formandlife.com
Type: HTML Local Storage
Category: Unclassified
Storage: Persistent
Cookiebot currently marks this technology as Unclassified and indicates that its classification is pending.
The precise purpose of this storage entry should be reviewed against the Form&Life theme implementation.
Until its function has been confirmed and appropriately classified, Form&Life does not represent it as a Necessary, Preference, Statistic or Marketing technology.
Where the storage or access is subject to Section 25 TDDDG, Form&Life will ensure that the applicable consent requirements are observed.
28. Marketing Technologies
According to the current Cookiebot declaration, Form&Life does not currently use Marketing cookies or marketing technologies.
Form&Life currently does not use:
- advertising cookies;
- Google Ads;
- remarketing technologies;
- advertising pixels;
- cross-site behavioural advertising; or
- third-party advertising profiles.
29. Cookie Declaration

The current declaration identifies:

Cookiebot may update its declaration when the website is rescanned or when its classification of technologies changes.
30. Consent Withdrawal
You may change or withdraw your consent for optional cookies and similar technologies at any time through the Cookiebot consent-management mechanism provided on the website.
Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
Where technically possible, optional technologies will cease to be activated following withdrawal of the relevant consent.
Necessary technologies may continue to operate where permitted by law.
31. Email Communication
When you contact Form&Life by email, we process the information contained in your message.
This may include:
- your email address;

This may include:
- names of interviewees;
- professional positions;
- biographies;
- photographs;
- quotations;
- contributor names; and
- information relating to public events, businesses, cultural activities and other matters of editorial interest.
The publication of such information is assessed according to the applicable legal basis and the relevant balance between privacy, personality rights and freedom of expression.
Requests concerning published personal data may be sent to:
34. Social Media Links
Form&Life may provide links to social-media platforms.
At the time of this Privacy Policy, Form&Life does not intentionally embed Instagram content directly into its pages.
A normal hyperlink does not itself cause the social-media provider to receive website data merely because the link is displayed.
Once you access the third-party platform, the privacy policy and data-processing practices of that platform apply.
35. YouTube and Other Embedded Content
At the time of this Privacy Policy, Form&Life does not intentionally embed YouTube videos or other third-party media players directly into its pages.
If embedded third-party content is introduced in the future, Form&Life will review the technical implementation and the associated data-processing activities.
Where legally required, non-essential embedded content will not be activated until the applicable consent has been obtained.
This Privacy Policy will be updated where necessary.
36. Data Recipients
Depending on the relevant processing activity, personal data may be processed by the following categories of recipients:
Hetzner Online GmbH
Hosting and server infrastructure.
Cloudflare, Inc.

Google Analytics.
Usercentrics A/S

Other technical or professional service providers may receive limited personal data where necessary for the operation, security or administration of Form&Life.
Personal data may also be disclosed to courts, public authorities, legal advisers or other recipients where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
37. Data Processing Agreements
Where a service provider processes personal data on behalf of Form&Life and the legal requirements of Article 28 GDPR apply, Form&Life uses an appropriate data-processing agreement or other legally required contractual arrangement.
Cloudflare's current Data Processing Addendum contains provisions addressing processing, subprocessors and international transfers.
Usercentrics likewise provides a GDPR data-processing agreement for Cookiebot customers where it acts as processor.
38. International Data Transfers
Form&Life aims to use European infrastructure and service arrangements where reasonably practicable.
Nevertheless, certain global service providers may process technical information or personal data outside the European Economic Area.
Where personal data is transferred to a third country, Form&Life relies on an applicable safeguard under Chapter V GDPR, where required.
Depending on the relevant provider and circumstances, this may include:
- an adequacy decision under Article 45 GDPR;
- Standard Contractual Clauses under Article 46 GDPR;
- another appropriate safeguard permitted under GDPR; or
- a lawful derogation under Article 49 GDPR where applicable.
The specific mechanism may depend on the service and its configuration.
39. Data Retention
Form&Life retains personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, unless a longer period is required by law or is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Retention periods therefore depend on the type and purpose of processing.
Member data
Member information is retained for as long as the member account remains active, unless deletion is requested and no legal or legitimate reason for continued retention exists.
Analytics data
Google Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings configured in the Form&Life Google Analytics property.

When personal data is no longer required and no legal or legitimate basis for continued retention exists, Form&Life will delete or anonymise the relevant information.
Where deletion is not immediately possible because of a legal retention requirement or an ongoing legal dispute, processing will be restricted to the extent required by law.
41. Statutory Retention Requirements
Certain business records and communications may be subject to statutory retention obligations under German law.
Where such obligations apply, Form&Life may retain relevant information for the statutory period even when the original processing purpose has ended.
During this period, the data may be processed only to the extent necessary for the applicable legal obligation or another lawful purpose.
42. Data Security
Form&Life takes appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against:
- accidental loss;
- destruction;
- unauthorised access;

Depending on the relevant system, security measures may include:
- encrypted HTTPS connections;
- access controls;

Where applicable, you may request your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format.
